Product Photo Retouching for Ecommerce Catalogs

Product photo retouching is the pixel-level finishing that takes a serviceable supplier photo and turns it into a marketplace-ready listing image. Dust, scratches, label imperfections, colour drift, exposure mismatches, edge softness and reflection artefacts are all corrected by senior retouchers — not algorithms — so every SKU in your catalog looks brand-led.

What product photo retouching actually means

Most ecommerce catalogs are built from a mix of in-house studio shots, supplier-provided images, smartphone photos and stock — which is why most catalogs look inconsistent. Product photo retouching is the post-production layer that brings all of those sources up to a single quality bar so your storefront and marketplace listings look like one coherent brand.

On every image we clean up dust, scratches, lint and fingerprints; correct colour and exposure; sharpen labels and packaging text for legibility; refine product edges; control reflections on glass, metal and gloss packaging; and balance shadows so the product reads as three-dimensional rather than flat.

Retouching is done in Photoshop by senior editors, not in browser-based AI tools. The difference shows on reflective products (jewellery, watches, electronics), transparent products (glass, perfume, plastic packaging), textured products (knitwear, leather, fabric) and anything with fine detail — exactly the categories where AI alone produces visible artefacts.

Where retouching makes the biggest conversion difference

Beauty and skincare: glass and plastic packaging needs subtle highlight control so it photographs cleanly without blowing out or going flat. Label sharpening makes the ingredient list and brand name legible at thumbnail size, which directly affects click-through.

Electronics: screens need to be replaced with clean reference content (Amazon and Noon allow screen replacement on the product image). Reflections on glossy plastic and metal need to be tamed without removing them entirely — the product should still look glossy, just not distracting.

Fashion and apparel: fabric texture, weave detail and colour must be preserved exactly. A retouched fashion image still shows the fabric — it just shows it cleanly, without distracting wrinkles, lint or stray threads.

Jewellery and watches: precious metal and stones need careful highlight control so they sparkle without overexposing. Reflections in polished surfaces are preserved because they signal authenticity and quality.

Consistency across the catalog is the real value

A single beautifully retouched image is easy. A catalog of 500 SKUs where every image has the same colour treatment, the same shadow direction, the same crop ratio and the same level of finish — that is the hard part, and it is where most catalogs fall down.

We document a style guide on your first batch (background brightness, shadow opacity, colour profile, crop ratio, sharpening amount) and lock it across the catalog. Every subsequent batch is reviewed against the style guide before delivery, so the storefront stays coherent over time as new SKUs come in from different suppliers, photographers and team members.

Process, pricing and turnaround

Upload your photos via Drive, Dropbox or FTP. Share your category, marketplace destinations and any brand reference. We run a free sample retouch on one SKU so you can approve the style before processing the full batch. Most retouching batches of 50 to 200 SKUs are returned within 24 hours; larger catalogs are scheduled into rolling daily deliveries.

Pricing is per image with volume tiers based on complexity (simple, standard, complex). We invoice in AED or USD, accept bank transfer and Wise, and offer monthly retainers for active sellers and agencies. Fixed quotes are provided within 12 to 24 hours of seeing your sample images.
